The Story of Determination
During the 1970s–80s, the family was engaged in manufacturing traditional Nawari sarees. However, changing market trends led to a drastic fall in demand, resulting in heavy financial losses and mounting debt. In search of survival, the family depended on farming papaya and banana crops — but devastating sleet rain destroyed the entire harvest.
In a moment of deep despair, Jagannath Rawal once reached a railway station intending to end his life. Before taking that irreversible step, he stopped at a tea stall and read a powerful line written in Hindi:
“Majboori insaan ko jeena sikhati hai, isse bada vishvavidyalaya duniya mein koi nahi.”
(Helplessness teaches a person how to live; there is no greater university than this.)
Those words transformed his thinking. He returned home with renewed courage and chose to fight rather than surrender.
In 1980, he reclaimed his father’s shop — which was under illegal possession — by arranging ₹10,000 through loans from friends and settling the matter the same day. After paying the amount, he was left with almost nothing.
With just 10 paisa, he purchased a sack of crystal salt and restarted his business.
Despite mockery and hardship, he remained humble and patient. His honesty earned trust, and nearby vendors began extending goods on credit. Slowly, the small trading business began to grow again.
